When the weather Gods complied

"Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere and sometimes in the middle of nowhere you find yourself."

Mumbai weather has been awesome off late, we thought we'd milk it for all it's worth and took our spanking new range of customised lids for an outdoor shoot. Here are some of the pics from one of the most fun, crazy and impromptu shoots we've done.

Shake woman, shake

Wild moon woman,
You were not made to be tame,
You are an earthquake
Shaking loose everything that is not soul
Shake woman, shake

This lovely poem captures the spirit of our latest hand-painted helmet! She's all soul, fierce and a head turner- introducing 'Bewitched' in collaboration with the awesome grease monkeys at Garage52.

With a city gearing up for thunder showers, pot holes and and flooded streets, for the nature and adventure junkies, raindrops are music to our ears, a seamless segue urging us to pack our rucksacks and hit the highways to chart our own paths and follow the sounds of nature, as it beckons us to throw caution to the wind and seek out inspiration. In the spirit of testing new waters and listening to our calling we'd like to give you a little sneak peek into what goes on behind the scenes, the making of this bewitching beauty!

Skid marks and paint splatters

Rev up your engines and brace yourself, because we are about to take you on a trippy ride!

Two distinctly different worlds are on a collision course to create a brand new range of products, Pyjama Party Studio is thrilled to collaborate with the awesomely talented crew at Garage 52 to work together to conceptualise and design a whole bunch of quirky, offbeat products for bikers.

Like tattered tapestries, woven from the same thread, the biker grit and grime finds common ground in our paint splatters and creative chaos. The common thread that ties this collaboration together is the underlying spirit of adventure, testing unchartered territories and the pushing of boundaries. Here's a sneak peek into some of the work we've done so far, there's a whole lot more in store! You can check out our respective work at Garage 52 and Pyjama Party Studio

Babushka love

The Matryoshka dolls were born from the creative belly of  Sergey Malyutin a very talented artist, illustrator and designer, with the help of Vasily Zvyozdochkin a doll maker and artist in 1890, carved out of wood these beautiful nesting dolls have since stolen the hearts and sparked the imagination of many an artist and designer. You can still find the authentic Russian Babushka dolls in the Sergiyev Posad,Semyonov,Polkhovsky Maidan and Kirov regions in Russia. These dolls are commonly referred to as Babushka dolls, the word "babushka means 'grandmother' or an 'elderly woman'

With the growing love for these adorable dolls, artists and designers across the world have creatively adapted these dolls to reflect various styles of art  and elements of their region or country. Today you can find contemporary artists painting theme based artwork like floral, Christmas, Easter, animals or even portraits and caricatures of famous politicians and celebrities.

Christmas themed Babushka dolls

Politician themed Babushka dolls

Superhero themed Babushka dolls

The Babushka doll is one of my all time favourite designs to paint. I remember as a little girl a relative of mine returning from Russia, had gifted me a set of these adorable nesting dolls and I was instantly awe stuck by the intricate and elaborate artwork on each piece, my personal favourite was the tiniest one! Every time I paint a  Babushka doll teapot it takes me  down memory lane, to the many days spent playing my Babushka set of nesting dolls, though I must confess, for all my love for the little baby doll, I did manage to misplace the little baby, guess I wasn't the most careful of kids. Oopssiiieee...

When I'm feeling blue, all I have to do, is take a look at you.

With a city bathed in a myriad shades of blue, as raindrops pelt down from the skies above, my Blue Peacocks hand-painted teapot captures  the mood natures set. Blue in all its brilliance as peacock dance on the teapot to the rhythm of the rain!

'When I'm feeling blue, all I have to do
Is take a look at you, then I'm not so blue'

Fire breathers

via GIPHY

Dragons have always fascinated me, from their fire breathing prowess to the graceful way these mythical beings glide through the air. There's something about the delicacy and power these creatures represent that's truly enigmatic.

My fascination  with dragons stems from a time way before the Game of Thrones, if I had to look back, it took root during the days spent as a child, with my head burrowed in books, reading about tantalising tales about dragons and wizards. Like all the motifs I paint, this one too is a design that has a lot of personal meaning and significance and takes me back in time. I've done multiple sketches of dragons over the years, these two variants have finally found their way to a Pyjama Party product.
