Wabi-Sabi is a philosophy, a thought perspective or a way of seeing things that i didn't even realise i was doing for the longest time.I chanced upon the Japanese term many years ago when i was a planner and was delighted, that there existed a term for the way i see life.I'm super excited to introduce this philosophy for those of you who don't know about it ,in a this little artwork i've done.Rest assured you'll see more of it in the days to come in the new Pyjama Party range of products.

Coming very soon!!
Susan Sontag once called the artist "a hand worker in an era of mass production." For an art studio like ours, it's always been about the nuances, the little imperfections, the finer details that come from the process of creating the art by hand. In an offshoot of our pursuit of handmade beauty, we are finding a beautiful common ground.
In our new exclusive limited edition collection, inspired by the Japanese aesthetic 'Wabi-Sabi', we blend the traditional with the modern! Hand-drawn illustrations and paintings digitally produced on selective everyday products.

Kathakali dancer hand-painted teapot/kettle
Chanced upon this poem a while ago, thought its a total fit for this post.
We dance for laughter,
We dance for tears,
We dance for madness,
We dance for fears,
We dance for hopes,
We dance for screams,
We are the dancers,
We create the dreams.
We dance for laughter,
We dance for tears,
We dance for madness,
We dance for fears,
We dance for hopes,
We dance for screams,
We are the dancers,
We create the dreams.
If you haven't seen a Kathakali performance in the flesh its something you must do!!Flamboyant costumers, wild wild make up,brilliant emotions and sheer passion is what each performance is.I'd been lucky to have caught a couple of performances in the past and each on blew my away.
Us pseudo mallus sometimes find our way back to our roots so here's a Kathakali dancer kettle paying homage to the culturally rich and vibrant land i hail from.
