Project Life- Pay it forward!

Last year I did the 'Lyrics project' where I asked anyone and everyone to send me a line of song they connected with[ preferably not the chorus]  and I offered to paint/sketch my rendition of the line. It was free like all things that have deep meaning should be! So with 2016 already almost a month old I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to resurrect  last years projects in a new avatar.

So this year I won't just be doing lyrics of a song, but quotes that mean something to you. So if you'd like me sketch or paint a line that has a deep connection with you, do drop me a line via the contact me tab or comment on this post and I'll do the needful. There are no strings attached, it's free and it's all about spreading the love! If you could in return do something nice for someone else consider it even, if not it's still OK

The lil colourful book on the right is my last years lyrics project book, clearly ran out of space, new book and new artwork!!

The Happy Jar

There's something I decided to do at the fag end of 2015, last year was a potent concoction of thrilling and taxing, filled with the wild highs and the inevitable lows that tend to follow. Through the crazy-ass rollercoaster I've grown to love, something I realised along the way, was people are bloody amazing and do the  most selfless and genuine things for you,

when you least expect it. It's all about the small gestures, the things that they might have said or done that I hope never to forget. After all it's these small things that make life wonderful.

Here's the "Happy Jar",filled with little notes and  all the little things that have a really big place and meaning in my life. A heart filled thank you to every single person who has said and done things to make my life beautiful. I hope by the end of 2016 to have done something in return for you when you least expect it!!

Spreading the happiness!!

A moonlit tryst

We sat there baring our souls,
Licking our wounds as we spoke,
We came undone, the warp and weft giving way,
Each thread, each fiber once taut with tension,
Loosening with effortless ease,
Threadbare souls, naked, exposed,
We build our castle in the sky,
We saw each other under a moonlit night,
Hoping the sun wouldn't rise.

A dash of hot sauce anyone?

With last week packed with loads of work I managed to do a little bottle art for the home in between projects, here's another up cycled bottle to dawn the shelves in the kitchen, this one was a Kissan sauce bottle, not the most interesting of shapes but different nonetheless.

You Foxy lil thing!

It truly is one of the nicest surprises when you get a customised order for a design motif you been meaning to do, but haven't gotten down to. To kickstart the international orders for Pyjama Party, I was delighted to get an order from one of the most inspiring places for art and artists!! La Ville Lumiere [the city of lights] Paris!!

A lovely Parisian lady asked me to paint some foxes on a kettle design, which originally had silhouettes of cats, what I loved about her request was the reason behind it. She wanted her little pet dog to have a fox friend!! I was sold at every level, the cuteness of the request, the fact that she's a dog lover and to add icing to the cake the little foxes I was meaning to paint. These are some pics of the kettle with a befitting name- 'You foxy lil thing'

At the stroke of midnight!

New personal project for the new year! So this one's a tad bit ambitious, I hope to follow through with it for the whole year. Since this blog is mostly about all the things I like, the things that inspire me, the trials and tribulations in the life of an artist, I thought it would be a good idea to paint little artworks that hopefully capture some of the things that make me who I am, it could be the things I love or hate, my feelings and experiences, I have no clue what this project will reveal to be honest.

I've decided to call it 'At the stroke of mid-night' because honestly, it's only once the sun sets and I'm done with all the work for the day, do I get the time to indulge in the things I love to do for my own jollies.

Drum roll please, this one's the first, of hopefully many: Hot Chocolate Sundays!!

Hot Chocolate Sundays

For anyone who doesn't know me I'm addicted to chocolate, in any form, shape or size. It's one of the few things I'd much rather look the other way than share, so it's only befitting to end a lovely week, filled with new designs, new challenges and new ideas with a piping hot cup of my true love

Sodium lights and street flowers

Darkness fell silently, a curtain call on the day done by,
She walked down sodium lit streets with a wish on her lips,
Lips that wouldn't move, thoughts that moved too quickly,
A dirty street, studded with little white flower stars.

When the stars fell to Earth

As a kid growing up in Mumbai we had a cute Christmas ritual, every year we'd all bundle into the car and drive down the by lanes of Bandra, to check out the  lovely Christmas decorations in the quaint old bungalows. The furniture store was a stop we had to do. This year I did the family drive by and also decided to go for a walk down the by lanes as well.

There's something magical and mystical about walking down the streets during winter, the lovely nip in the air, the crisp sea breeze, the faint smell of bakeries baking bread. Bandra transforms into a whimsical garden of twinkly lights, stars and tiny cribs that spot every corner! It's always the small things that matter, the little, almost insignificant things that mean the most to me.
