A picture paints a thousand words

" Let the beauty of what you love be what you do" -Rumi

I love this quote by Rumi and I'm thrilled to let everyone know I've been toiling away for the past couple of weeks to launch a new range of canvas art, details of which will be up soon. We will be retailing both original artwork and canvas prints of a spanking new range of colourful artwork.

It's been something I've been meaning to do for a long long time and we are so close to the finish line, the butterflies in my stomach reflect the excitement!!

Stay tuned for more details on the artworks and prints!! Here's a sneak peek into some of the artwork that will be up for grabs soon!

A dragonfly in my mind's eye

Some nights feel like they are made of magic, where you feel an almost primal need to express something. This artwork started like most, a faint glimmer in my mind's eyes and with each brush stroke morphed into something beautiful and heartfelt. If you've followed my artwork and blogposts you'd know I do have more than just a soft corner for dragonflies, so much so that I've had one inked on my body.

At the fag end of every Monsoon season, I find myself standing on my terrace engulfed in a sea of dragonflies, it's a surreal experience where you smack dab in the middle of a bustling city and yet in your mind you feel like you're in a lush field filled with dragonflies, so real is the feeling that I can almost smell the fresh grass and feel the soft mud between my toes.

This artwork which is still a work in progress, is a humble expression of all of those feelings I've felt over the years. My little haven and escape from the realities of living a fast paced city like Mumbai.

Paint splattered!!

Painted a Mexican border design for Uba Tuba the other day, the experience had its share of ups and downs, of course there were the unwanted opinions, from every Tom, Dick and Harry who hadn't lifted a paintbrush in their life and there were the wonderful moments where random people passing by stopped to say something nice. My favourite were the little kids who passed by after school who were somehow wowed by a little triangular Mexican border!! Had two adorable girls who stopped by and one little girl asked me why i wasn't painting anything pink!! How cute!!Can't help but love the little ones

Buddha found the light!!

Finally finished a painting for one of my close friends Piyush aka Pondi!!Pondi holds the title of making me cry more than once and sadly he's unabashed about his very ungentlemanly  like behaviour, nevertheless he's one of my craziest, super talented, most annoying yet adorably childlike[sometimes childish] friends.

It was a piece I started a little less than a year ago and was supposed to be his wedding gift, but like many of the canvas pieces I've started, work came in the way and broke my momentum. As history would stand witness, when that happens the canvas invariably get shoved into the deep recesses of my mind and room, never to see the light of day again.

Luckily for him[or maybe not] this particular piece wasn't shoved into a corner in my room,in fact it floated around my room to the point that I just couldn't handle seeing it in it's half finished state. It was Piyush's birthday on Friday,I cracked up the music pulled out my paints and brushes and decided to go for it once and for all!!

Haaapppiieee birthday Pondi may this painting find its place on your wall and in your home for the years to come!!Many thanks for the patience and all the fun times we've have over the past 10 years!!
